Proud to be commissioned by
Wychavon District Council
Wychavon Council has fully funded this educational program for all 63 schools across the district for 2024-2026. The Wychavon team supports investing in educational programs aimed at addressing litter pollution. By assisting adopt-a-street members and litter-picking groups, the district council is committed to promoting a cleaner environment. Funding the education sector aims to help future generations understand the negative effects of litter pollution and the importance of responsible waste management. This approach intends to foster environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among young people. The Wychavon team acknowledges the relevance of addressing litter pollution through education and community support to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
Everyone has a role in reducing waste impact on the environment and ensuring sustainability. Wychavon is committed to funding litter education in schools through the Little Litter Warriors education initiative. This effort supports the council's anti-litter campaign throughout the Wychavon District. From 2021 to 2025, the program has grown as new schools have joined and many have returned to participate in the litter workshops. Since its launch in March 2021, the campaign has involved 59 Wychavon schools, educating 14,991 pupils across the district. Wychavon Council is proactive in supporting community efforts to reduce litter. Read more here: Littering - Wychavon District Council
Little litter Warrior’s mission is to educate, encourage and enrich children’s learning, preparing them for a lifetime of caring in their communities’ environment.
Whats on offer
The Little Litter Warriors program is designed to raise awareness about community litter pollution through an engaging litter pick or hunt. Children gain first-hand knowledge of their local environment and the impact of litter on wildlife, marine life, and community areas. Vintage litter is presented to demonstrate the need for changes in human behaviour. These items were personally collected during litter picking activities, allowing children to observe how litter can persist in the environment for many years. The oldest piece collected dates back to 1928.
A questionnaire tick list is provided to record the number of crisp packets, drink bottles, sweet wrappers, etc., collected during the activity. Children enjoy searching for old pieces of litter that they can use in a show-and-tell activity at school with other year groups.
In support of the council’s commitment to addressing littering and plastic pollution, Wychavon District Council offers these sessions
FREE to schools throughout the district over the next three years as part of their Anti-litter Campaign.
