Proud to be Commissioned by

Malvern District Council

Malvern District Council has fully funded an educational program for all 42 schools across the district for the period of 2025-2027. The Malvern team is dedicated to investing in educational initiatives aimed at addressing litter pollution. By supporting adopt-a-street members and litter-picking groups, the district council is committed to promoting a cleaner environment. Funding the education sector aims to help future generations comprehend the adverse effects of litter pollution and the importance of responsible waste management. This initiative seeks to foster environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among young people and schools. The team recognizes the importance of tackling litter pollution through education and community support to create a cleaner and healthier environment.

Every individual has a role in mitigating waste impact on the environment and ensuring sustainability. Malvern District Council is dedicated to funding litter education in schools through the Little Litter Warriors education initiative. This effort aligns with the council's anti-litter campaign throughout the Malvern District. Since it launched in the district February 2025, the campaign has involved 7 Malvern schools and educated 558 pupils across the district. Malvern District Council remains proactive in supporting community efforts to reduce litter. Read more here Littering - Malvern Hills District Council

Teachers Comments

Karen visited Callow End School on Tuesday 8th April 2025. Her communication before the event was detailed and comprehensive. Karen started the day with an interesting and informative assembly. She engaged all our pupils very well and spoke with enthusiasm and passion. The assembly was well resourced and pitched at exactly the right level.

Karen then led age-appropriate, well planned sessions with each of our four classes. The litter picks were carefully planned, with clear safety rules and were well resourced. Our youngest pupils worked to pick up litter on our school site and the older pupils went to the local park and around the village. They cleared up an impressive amount of rubbish, including items which date back to the 1990s.

The children were enthusiastic and engaged throughout and thoroughly enjoyed making a difference. Our class teachers gave excellent feedback, as did the local shopkeeper and villagers.

Thank you Malvern Council for giving Karen the opportunity to do this vital work in schools. She has inspired our pupils to make a difference to their environment and to give back to their community.

Kind regards,

Sarah Wilkinson,

Headteacher

  • What’s on offer

The Little Litter Warriors program raises awareness about community litter pollution through a fun litter pick or hunt. Children learn about their local environment and how litter affects wildlife, marine life, and community areas. Vintage litter collected over the years illustrates the persistence of litter, with items dating back to 1928.

A questionnaire is provided to record collected items like crisp packets, drink bottles, and sweet wrappers. Children can use these findings for show-and-tell activities at school.

Malvern District Council offers these sessions FREE to schools throughout the district over the next two years as part of their Anti-litter Campaign.

Hands on Fun!

The Little Litter Warriors program engages KS1-KS4 pupils in litter picking to highlight community pollution. They learn about their local environment's effect on wildlife, marine life, and community areas. Sessions are free and part of Malvern District Council’s pledge against littering and plastic pollution.

The litter pick is an outdoor activity with individual equipment for each pupil. Little Litter Warriors are fully insured; Karen has enhanced DBS checks and experience in conducting large group litter picks in the community.

On the day, you will receive:

- Classroom Activity Resources: Lessons for KS1-KS4 post-pick.

- Assembly Presentation: "Our Planet" for 30 minutes.

- Health and Safety Briefing Notes: For independent litter picks.

- Risk Assessments: For equipment and safety protocols.

- Adopt a Street Scheme: Guidance for schools’ eco-committees.

All necessary equipment and resources for teachers, pupils, and parents are provided.
